"One of the few mediators who have over 20 years’ experience in contentious insolvency who grasps the issues quickly"

BIO

SOLICITOR AND INSOLVENCY MEDIATOR (CEDR)

Steve is a  practising Lawyer at Excello Law, which has offices in London, Leeds and Liverpool.

Steve is a qualified solicitor and a civil and commercial mediator accredited by CEDR. Having specialised in contentious insolvency and litigation since 1991, Steve has gained invaluable experience regarding insolvency law over the last 20 years and understands the tensions and issues which exist between the Insolvency Practitioner, Creditors, Directors, Debtors and Third parties involved in the insolvency process.

Steve is passionate about mediation and has been involved in advocating mediation since 2000 which led to him qualifying as a Mediator. Insolvency disputes lend themselves to mediation as most cases do settle but usually just before trial after substantial costs and risks have been incurred.

If the parties to the dispute are willing to explore the issues on a confidential basis then the chances of avoiding the lottery of a trial are high and mediation is the perfect process to allow this.

Steve has had considerable trial experience in contentious insolvency, both personal and corporate, and mediations concerning Preferences, Undervalue claims, Breach of duty claims and Misfeasance.

Steve is independent and neutral and his aim is to facilitate a negotiated settlement.

The majority of Mediations achieve a settlement on the day of mediation.

Steve is noted and recommended in the Legal 500 (2013) as an “intuitive and inventive” lawyer.

“On mediation day Steve, you were fantastic, patient and a real guiding hand”
